I Don't Know That Japanese! [XD]

Recently, I've been trying to extend my knowledge on the Japanese language. However, I learned within ten minutes of the project that my Japanese needs lots of work. Now, my dad actually got Rosetta Stone [French, however] for my sister, so she could better learn [French]. And when I was just randomly picking up a conversation with him, he's like, "Japanese? Seriously?"

I don't think it's too surprising, but in his case his shock is justified. See, I'm being forced to take this Spanish class, right? And I'm *epically* failing. So the fact that I AM interested in a foreign language [thankfully not Spanish] must be pretty shell-shocking. Heh.

The reason I'm interested in Japanese has partly to do with my manga/anime obsession, and partly to do with my interest in the language itself. If it was something like Chinese, I would probably just blow it off and not care as much because I don't see myself going to China. [Honestly, though, Chinese does sound pretty interesting, but I needed to use some sort of example].

I know a bit of Japanese: dog, cat, what was that?, how are you?, hello, together, etc. Stuff like that. I don't know anything that could really hold a conversation for more than five seconds, which was the whole idea of extending my knowledge.

By nature, I have this habit of needing to know something, and sometimes not having the means/not having the time. For instance, I cheated on my Spanish homework before by using a Spanish-to-English dictionary; I didn't have the time to learn the words Mrs. Spanish Teacher wanted us to learn.

Another time, I wanted to read "Romeo and Juliet" but the school library wouldn't lend it out to me because it was at a high school level and I'm only in the seventh grade. I wanted to write an essay about why my band teacher was unfair, but I was in the middle of writing a story for English.

Some of these things are a bit too...calm. My brother said the word would be calm, though I'm not sure I know what he's talking about :P

Japanese doesn't seem to like me, though.
